We are in the midst of packing up our home! We've moved 4 times in our almost nine years of marriage, so we know how to box stuff up. But this is way more than of a process than expected. We are literally going through each item in our home and determining its worth. Everything! We live simply but we still have so much stuff. Each item goes through a series of questions, "is this sentimental?", "will we want to use this during our three years in Japan?", "garage sale?", "donate, and to who?", and "who could we bless with this?".
This probably doesn't make sense to a majority of people, but through all this sorting we have had so much peace. Just like is promised in Philippians 4:6-7 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
As we get closer to July 31st (our end of escrow date) getting rid of items has become easier than when we first started. The realization that we could end up landing in Japan with two small girls and 15 pieces of luggage helps too.
