A Glimpse of Heaven

Last week we had the privilege of being invited to a International Christian Fellowship gathering. We have some new friends, that head the ICF ministry up in Escondido, who invited us to come up and visit. They know that we are on our way to Japan and they have many Japanese students. As we drove up we were excited to see what God was doing through this ministry to International students. We walked in and came upon a site that you would only find at an ICF gathering! You know that you are at an International gathering when you see all these shoes by the front door.  Even Abbi took hers off and set them by everyone else's :)

The night started out with dinner and fellowship and we were able to meet and chat with many Japanese students. And of course they all loved Abbi and Ryli! As dinner came to a close we moved into the family room gathering area where we were lead in song worship by a team of students. As we sang the songs and listened to those around us it was a beautiful picture of what Heaven will be like. You could hear many singing in their broken english, some singing in their native tongue, but they weren't singing to be pretty, they were shouting out the words to these songs as if they could not hold them in. As we watched this worship unfold we were reminded of a few verses. Revelation 7:9-10 says:

"After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes and held palm branches in their hands. 10 And they were shouting with a great roar, “Salvation comes from our God who sits on the throne and from the Lamb!”

As our evening came to an end, mostly because of the girls' bedtime, we left feeling encouraged by the Lord. We had tears in our eyes--we had been blessed. This encouragement had come at just the right time for us. We will not forget this precious moment and cannot wait to be worshipping the King of kings and Lord of lords with all of our brothers and sisters in Christ! God is the God of the world. He is worthy of all worship from all peoples!
