Our home has been slowly emptying. We've have been giving items away, but most of the bigger items we have sold on Craigslist. Some friends have come over to shop and we've joked that our home has become a "dollar store". But, there's still a lot of miscellaneous items. Then yesterday God answered that prayer! We just found out about a neighborhood garage sale at our friends', Dave and Lydia Rose, house in Poway on Saturday, May 26th! The garage sale should be a great opportunity to get rid of a lot of stuff. As our "stuff" is emptying out of the house we are reminded of two things. First that it is not "our stuff" anyways. We have been blessed to be a blessing to others and we are called to use all of our resources to bring God's Name glory! The second thing we were reminded of was a verse in 1 John.
"Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world— the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever." - 1 John 2:15-17
If you want to be a part of the garage sale you can come shop, help sell, or donate items to be sold. You can drop items off with us at church any weekend before 26th (please make sure that it can fit in our cars) or contact us and we can pick it up. In a few weeks, we'll update you with how it goes!
All proceeds from the garage sell will be used for our "one time" cost of getting to Japan (flights/visas). Plus, thanks to the Matching Grant, everything raised will be doubled dollar for dollar!
